  • Viaplay broadcast all OBOS Damallsvenskan games over the next five seasons, with at least two games per week on TV6 in Sweden
  • Partnership with Swedish elite football play-off aims to make OBOS Damallsvenskan the best women’s football league in the world
  • Viaplay to stream more hours of women’s football live than any other service

Nordic entertainment group (NENT Group), one of the fastest growing streaming companies in the world, and the Swedish elite football play-off (EFD) have entered into a long-term partnership to show OBOS Damallsvenskan football on NENT Group Viaplay streaming service and make the competition the best women’s football league in the world. Viaplay will show all OBOS Damallsvenskan matches in all Nordic and Baltic countries, Poland and the Netherlands from 2022 to 2026, with extended coverage over NENT Group TV channels in Sweden. The agreement means Viaplay will broadcast more live hours of women’s football than any other service.

As of spring 2022, seven live matches of Sweden the best women’s football division will be available every week on Viaplay. The coming season will see the league expand to 14 teams, giving a total of 26 rounds and 182 games per year. Matches will be scheduled in a consistent and accessible manner with the aim of expanding the reach of OBOS Damallsvenskan fans in all Viaplay’s markets.

In Sweden, Viaplay’s OBOS Damallsvenskan coverage will include premium studio programming and expert commentary. At least two games per week will be broadcast on NENT Group channel TV6, as well as a weekly highlights program.

Anders Jensen, NENT Group Chairman and CEO: “Our common ambition with EFD is nothing less than to build together the number one women’s football league in the world. OBOS Damallsvenskan is already a big competition with a passionate audience, and it is ready for the next level. This is our turf house – working with rights holders to develop sports properties, while reaching and inspiring new audiences through the industry’s best streaming platform. “

Annika Grälls, President of the EFD Board of Directors: “It is an important step for OBOS Damallsvenskan, for our players and our clubs as well as for women’s football in general that we sign this long term agreement with NENT Group, allowing our league to be broadcast in 10 different countries. “

Tomas Hoszek, CEO of EFD: “This five-year agreement with NENT Group, a world-leading streaming company, is a historic moment for Swedish women’s football. We are excited to be able to accelerate our vision to become one of the most competitive leagues in the world and proud to become new partners. “

Peter Nørrelund, NENT Group Director General of Sports: “This historic agreement means Viaplay will broadcast around 350 women’s football games live each year which puts us ahead of this league in particular ahead of all other streaming companies. We have a long term commitment to women’s football and we are helping to make sport a more equal place where everyone has the chance to show off their skills. Viewers can expect world-class coverage on Viaplay and TV6 from world-class competition. “

OBOS Damallsvenskan is currently home to the majority of the Swedish national team’s players (currently second in FIFA world rankings), including stars like Stina Blackstenius (BK Häcken), Madelen Janogy (Hammarby) and Olivia Schough (FC RosengÃ¥rd).

The league also includes Nordic and international talents such as Sveindis Jane Jónsdóttir (Kristianstads DFF /Iceland), Sanne Troelsgaard Nielsen (FC RosengÃ¥rd /Denmark), Heidi ellingsen (Linköpings FC /Norway), Ria Öling (FC RosengÃ¥rd /Finland) and Fernanda Da Silva (Vittsjö GIK /Brazil). Attendance has grown rapidly in recent years, and October Stockholm derby between AIK and Hammarby set a record for a Swedish women’s championship match.

In addition to OBOS Damallsvenskan, Viaplay shows england Barclays FA Women’s Super League, germany Frauen-Bundesliga, from denmark Gjensidige Kvindeliga and Italy Serie A TIM VISION, as well as selected games from spain Liga Iberdrola. Viaplay will also be the exclusive home of FIFA Women’s world Cup 2023 in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Poland.
