Sports Mole previews Friday’s Nations League clash between Belarus and Kazakhstan, including predictions, team news and possible line-ups.
Belarus will be looking to claim their first victory of the current edition of the UEFA Nations League when they face Kazakhstan Friday.
The visitors, on the other hand, are aiming for a third straight win after beating Azerbaijan and Slovakia in their first two matches.
For the third game in a row, Belarus will enter the Stadion Karadorde in Serbia after being sanctioned by UEFA following Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.
Although games in Serbia are listed as home games, no fans were allowed to attend the games due to the sanctions imposed on Belarus.
Georgi KondratievThe team entered the current Nations League campaign after three straight wins, but they struggled without the presence of their fans.
A 1-0 loss to Slovakia on matchday one was followed by a goalless draw against Azerbaijan, leaving them with just one point to show for their efforts over the two games.
Sitting just above the relegation point thanks to a better goal difference over Azerbaijan, Belarus’ main objective for the rest of the competition will be to retain their place in League C.
While Belarus are still waiting for their first victory, Kazakhstan came out of the blocks by winning their first two Nations League matches.
After beating Moldova on penalties in a home and away game, Wednesday’s visitors were named Magomed Adiev as head coach after the interim reign of Andrei Karpovich.
Adiev started his tenure with a 2-0 win at home to Azerbaijan before edging out a Slovak side who are ranked 80 places higher than them in the FIFA World Rankings.
Kazakhstan may have traveled to Slovakia hoping for a draw, but a 26th-minute goal from Aslan Darabaev ensures the visitors go home with all three points.
Fresh off the back of picking up six points from their opening two games, Kazakhstan come top of Friday’s contest as they begin to focus on a relegation fight towards a promotion bid.
Despite losing their previous two meetings with Belarus, the visitors can take inspiration from winning their last two away internationals.

After being forfeited in the first half against Azerbaijan, Zakhar Volkov is a doubt for Friday’s contest, which could open the door to Ruslan Yudenkov to come back to the side.
The hosts could name an unchanged midfielder, although changes will be made to the front three.
Max Ebong and Vladislav Klimovich are both in contention to enter the front row as Belarus seek to find the net for the first time in their Nations League campaign.
As for visitors, they are expected to keep changes to a minimum, even if Baghdat Kairov could replace Mikhail Gabyshev at the right rear.
Islambek Kuat entered the squad for the meeting with Slovakia, and the midfielder is expected to keep his place in the squad.
Meanwhile, Abat Almbetov will continue to lead the line after scoring twice in the Nations League opener against Azerbaijan.
Possible starting line-up for Belarus:
Pavlyuchenko; Khadarkevich, Poltevich, Yudenkov; Nechaev, Yablonski, Bacharou, Shauchenka; Ebong, Klimovich, Solovei
Possible starting lineup from Kazakhstan:
Chatsky; Kairov, Malyy, Marochkin, Alip, Dosmagambetov; Astanov, Kuat, Darabaev, Orazov; Albetov
We say: Belarus 1-3 Kazakhstan
Although Belarus have won the last two meetings with Kazakhstan, we think the hosts will fall short on Friday when they came up against a Kazakhstan who won their first two Nations League games without conceding. .
