One month before Euro 2020: favorites, outsiders and prospects for golden shoes
Tthere is exactly one month left before Euro 2020 debut at Stadio Olimpico in Rome as Italy face Turkey in the opener.
Football fans across Europe have waited a long time for the tournament, which has been postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As the excitement builds for the big kickoff, we take a look at some of the star players and teams who could have had a successful summer on the continent.
Who are the favorites?
It’s hard to look past France, who are the reigning world champions. Kylian Mbappe leads an always talented team, with Didier Deschamps stay at the helm. They reached the final of their European Championship at home five years ago.
Elsewhere, 2016 champions Portugal arguably have a stronger squad than they did in France. Cristiano Ronaldo leads a team that includes Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Diogo Jota among others.
As the tournament is organized in several countries, England have more benefits at home than anyone else. Each of their three group matches will take place at Wembley, while they could also play the last 16, semi-final and final at home.
And the black horses?
Apart from the re-emerging giants which are the Netherlands and Italy, there are a few nations looking to make their mark at Euro 2020. Croatia, who are never expected to return home with the trophy, will try to do better than at the 2018 World Cup.
So you have Denmark, which has players in some of the best European clubs. There is Kasper Schmeichel in order to, Andreas Christensen in defense, Christian Eriksen in the middle of the field and Martin braithwaite in the front.
Ukraine and Turkey are about to promise new generations, while Wales still have Gareth Bale to inspire them to the heights they reached five years ago.
Who will win the Golden Shoe?

This summer, Cristiano Ronaldo will undoubtedly strive to finish at the top of the leaderboards, while Harry kane achieved this feat during the last World Cup.
