Omniva, which operates a network of parcel vending machines in the Baltic countries, will invest more than 40 million euros in the construction of a modern parcel sorting center in the free economic zone of Kaunas. This is Omniva Group’s largest investment to date and the new center will handle both domestic and international shipments from Lithuania.

“Given the future prospects of e-commerce and associated parcel logistics, we believe this investment is timely. First, the new sorting line will help optimize and improve business processes, further improving the quality of our services and making them more available to our customers. Secondly, the new center will strengthen Omniva’s position as a preferred logistics partner throughout the Baltic, improve the working conditions of our employees and preserve natural resources,” underlined Heiki RadikMember of Omniva’s Board of Directors.

The company’s new center and office space will be located in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone in Lithuania. They cover an area of 21,000 square meters, the size of three football pitches.

About 10 million euros of the total amount will be invested in the Equinox Europa parcel sorting line, which is the most modern sorting line on the market and can automatically sort up to 15,000 items per hour. The new sorting line will also service Omniva’s international shipments to the Baltic States from Western Europe, China and other countries. The technologically innovative sorting line avoids possible human errors and the shipments will reach the customer faster.

“We are leaders in the Baltics in terms of the number of shipments to parcel lockers and we are among the top three most popular brands in the Baltics. Although some turbulence can be detected in the current economy, we are certain that the investment is timely, as it allows us to focus on our long-term plans in national markets to be as close as possible to our customers,’ Radik added. In 2021, Omniva delivered 24 million parcels to its customers via parcel machines. Omniva has 937 parcel distributors in the Baltic countries, including 287 in Estonia, 300 in Latvia and 350 in Lithuania; the number continues to grow.

The construction of the new center as well as the installation of the sorting line should be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
