Mari State University to host 3,000 Indian MBBS students in Ukraine
India, August 12, 2022: Mari State University, one of the top universities in Russia, recently announced plans to accept 3,000 Indian students, who have returned to India from various Ukrainian medical universities, to resume their medical studies. The news is a sigh of relief for the 20,000 medical students seeking academic transfer from Ukrainian universities and without any hope for their medical career.
Earlier this year, during the special operation carried out by Russia in various territories of Ukraine, Indian students were forced to leave the country and their future hangs by a thread as they cannot pursue their MBBS studies in Ukraine due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. . These students have continuously searched for options for their MBBS studies and now Mari State University of Russia has come to their rescue.
Prof. Shevetsov Mikhail N., Rector of Mari State University, made the announcement during a special live session hosted by Rus Education. The session was aimed at helping Indian students from various Ukrainian universities wishing to pursue their MBBS and establish a successful career as doctors. Dr. Dinesh Singla, Director of Rus Education, participated in this live session and spoke with the Rector of Mari State University about the university’s plans. for the transfer of students from Ukraine to Russia.
Mari State University is one of the largest universities in terms of the number of international students studying at the university. Currently, more than 4500 international students are studying at the university, including 1200 Indian students. Thanks to all the efforts of the administration and university staff, students benefit from special arrangements in hostels, accommodation, education and other facilities offered at the university.
Due to the current situation in Ukraine, 20,000 Indian students pursuing medical studies at Ukrainian universities cannot return to Ukraine and complete their medical studies due to uncertainty. These students have repeatedly requested the Indian government to find options for the continuation of their MBBS course.
The rector of Mari State University assured, Ukraine has returned the Indian students, of its full support and invited them to resume their interrupted MBBS studies at the university. Mari State University is one of the few Russian universities that accepts transfer students from Ukraine.

The Rector replied, “Mari State University fully supports Indian students whose education has been interrupted in Ukraine. The university checked and compared the subjects and teaching programs of various Ukrainian universities and then made the final decision to welcome the students to complete their studies. The university promises them good infrastructure, high-quality medical education and a warm environment. We also understand that some students are unable to obtain original transcripts due to certain logistical issues, we will accept digital copies of transcripts for these students and process their admission. “

The Rector replied, “Mari State University is ready to welcome 3,000 Indian students back to Ukraine from the second year. The university will help them adapt to the friendly environment and maintain a high quality education.
