Lucas Digne: Everton defender wanted by Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham | Football news
Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham are interested in Everton left-back Lucas Digne.
Napoli are also keen to make a deal for the 28-year-old, although the Italian club are only interested in a buyout loan deal, which falls short of Everton’s demands.
There is also an unnamed fourth Premier League club that wants the France international.
Sky Sports News Everton have been told they want around £ 30million for the player they signed for Barcelona in 2018.
Chelsea’s interest has reportedly increased since it was decided left-back Ben Chilwell would undergo knee ligament surgery, likely ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are set to make Kieran Trippier their first signing under the Saudi regime, and hope to make at least three more additions this month as they seek to increase their chances of survival in the Premier League.
Digne was ruled out on Everton’s side after a high-profile fall-out with manager Rafa Benitez over tactics.
He was an unused replacement for Everton’s loss to Brighton on Sunday, with club captain and right-back Seamus Coleman playing as left-back.
Asked whether Digne is not playing, Benitez said “The most important thing for me is to have players on the pitch who want to be there.”
Everton have already signed Ukraine international Vitaliy Mykolenko to replace Digne if he leaves.
Everton sign Rangers’ Nathan Patterson
Nathan Patterson has completed his move from Rangers to Everton in a contract worth £ 16million.
The right-back has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Goodison Park and becomes the club’s second signing for the January transfer window after the arrival of defender Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev.
“I am delighted to sign for Everton and can’t wait to start,” Patterson told evertontv.
“It was an easy choice to sign. It’s a huge club with a huge history and the fan base is huge. Obviously we’re not where we want to be right now, but we can definitely get there with it. the talent of the changing room and the staff here, and I have no doubts that we can do it.
“It’s really exciting to come to a club that has a huge talent in the squad. I’m going to work on my socks and I hope I can do well with them in training and in games.
“It was also great for me to know that the manager really wanted me here and that’s what made my decision. When a club really wants you, they make up their minds early on.
“I wanted to come here from the start. I’m delighted to be here and really can’t wait to play in front of the fans at Goodison.
“In the long term, I want to set myself a starting position and win trophies to make the fans proud.”
