MINSK, October 21 (BelTA) – The Presidential Sports Club of Belarus and the Belarusian Special Olympics Committee have signed a cooperation protocol, BelTA has learned.

Presidential Sports Club President Dmitry Lukashenko and Belarusian Special Olympics Committee Executive Director Larisa Tabolina attended the document signing ceremony at Presidential Sports Club headquarters on October 20.

“Our cooperation has been going on for some time now and with the signing of this document it will move to a qualitatively new level. The main objective is to engage the Presidential Sports Club in the organization of events that will enable us to implement the main objectives of the Special Olympics movement. First of all, it is about the social reintegration of children with disabilities, teaching them healthy lifestyle behaviors and sports skills. It also means the development of various programs under the aegis of Special Olympics: volunteer, medical, parenting and many other programs of the Special Olympics movement in our country ”, commented Larisa Tabolina upon signing the document.

The Belarusian Special Olympics Committee is carrying out large-scale work on the social reintegration of people with special needs through sport. Each year, the association organizes regional and national competitions in football, basketball, table tennis, swimming, athletics and other Special Olympic sports. The association also organizes training and qualification competitions to prepare the national team of the Republic of Belarus for the European and International Special Olympics.

The Presidential Sports Club champions the Special Olympics movement, which makes an invaluable contribution to solving the adaptation problems of people with intellectual disabilities and to building an inclusive world.
